The Power Around Us

How do a string of words expound

The ambit of influence that ‘Power’ entails

Be it fast energy translating into work

Or the physical strength that a storm assails

The magnifying capacity of a lens

Or far reaching impact of the lyrical prose

The style of play in a pitcher’s toss

Or the surge of an engine that propels it forth

Generated in power plants, or the exponent in Math

Exercised by the mind, resting in the divine

Energy, aggression, passion and spirit

The influence that knowledge, love, money or art define

Power is a pendulum moving to and fro

Power to destroy or power to create

Power is in myself, in myriad shapes or forms

Power is in each beat, in every breath one takes

“I AM….” two of the most powerful words

What you put after them shapes your reality

It is soft enough to heal and offer life

And tough enough to destroy  with brutality

However the only power that man should seek

Is the one that he exercises over himself

in the ebb and flow of life, be secure in your own

More power to you, for in you it dwells.
