Defeated

She was a joyous girl, and had a lovely smile,

But in her mind resided, a creature that was vile.

Of friends she had a plenty, and her life was filled with fame

But , this voice inside her head, was playing a different game

It started as a whisper, yet, with time, it grew

Her mind believed the false, and doubted what was true

The charm that she was known for, those eyes that held a spark,

Surrounded by a vicious void, insecure and dark

Once a sanguine girl, who was ready from the start,

She hid behind the curtains, to hide her wounded heart

She started getting anxious, gave all a cautious look

The fear of someone following her, at every step she took

Her loved ones could do nothing, to save her from this lie

“don’t make them suffer” said the voice, “it’s better if you die!”

She gave it all she had, ” I will not give in!”

But this monster, hateful and strong, ate her from within

And so, you see, it’s not a gun, and not a poisonous pill

Nor is it a deadly ailment, that made this dreadful kill

“I come unannounced” paranoia exclaimed “and leave the best of men dead”

“And I do it with nothing, no fancy tools, just shadows in their head”
